Canyon Ridge Club Hires Award Winning Head Golf Professional
Lookout Mountain, GA (August 2, 2007) – Lookout Mountain’s only private gated golf community, Canyon Ridge Club, recently appointed Tennessee Section PGA award winning golf professional, Douglas Amor, to head the club’s 18- hole championship golf course.
“We are very pleased to welcome Mr. Amor to the Canyon Ridge Club community. We feel his leadership capabilities, innovative thought process and breadth of experience will greatly impact our members and guests’ golf game,” said John Spiess, general manager and director of golf at Canyon Ridge Club.
Amor brings over 12 years of professional golf experience and was the recipient of the state’s PGA “Growth of the Game” award in 2004. The award was presented to Amor as recognition of his new and innovative program designed to attract new players to the game of golf.
Prior to joining the Canyon Ridge Club community, Amor spent four years as the head golf professional at The Wee Course at Williams Creek in Knoxville, Tenn.
Throughout his career, Amor has led various clubs throughout Tennessee to the highest levels of golf standards including, Stonehenge Golf Club in Fairfield Glade, Eagle’s Landing Golf Club in Sevierville and Holston Hills Country Club in Knoxville.
Amor graduated from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Mich. with a bachelor’s degree in marketing through the Professional Golf Management program. Through the PGM program, Amor completed impressive internships at courses such as Sea Pines Resort in Hilton Head Island, S.C. and Sandestin Resort in Destin, Fla. Amor became a member of the Professional Golfers Association in 2003.
