A Message from the Owner
As usual, it was very hard to adjust to another New Year marker; 2008. But with 90 days behind us it is getting easier. It is hard to believe that in just a few months we will celebrate the third anniversary of the opening of our golf course and my how things have changed. In spite of what we read and hear about the economy, we are very excited about 2008. We have made some adjustments in our plan and are diligently forging ahead. We currently have 6 new homes under construction. The new state of the art Information Center is scheduled for completion in May. Plans are being finalized for a new neighborhood and we have introduced the exciting new Lookout Mountain Private Residence Club.

The tennis courts are currently open for play and the pool will open for the season on May 1st. I also noticed the first evidence of green tint on the fairways signaling the beginning of golf season. Our grounds crew has worked hard this winter to complete new hiking trails and I have to say they did a spectacular job. I look forward to seeing you here this summer.

New Canyon Ridge Club Hiking Trails!
The club now has a variety of hiking trails available for our members and guests to enjoy. Theses trails vary in length and difficulty. If a casual stroll is what you are looking for; then you will want to try the Upper Bluff Trail. This walk will take you along the meandering, gravel path that lies in the woods on the north side of Canyon Ridge Road. This trail continues deeper into the forest behind the eight tee, 16th green and then alongside of the 17th hole. To complete your stroll, pick up the golf car path along the 18th fairway and continue to the golf shop or to the Pointe Pavilion. This path is suitable for young children, as well as adults.

If adventure is more your speed, then our Lower Bluff Trail will provide all the thrills necessary for a vigorous hike. The entrance to the trail is just to the left of the scenic overlook at the top of the 1st tee. You will encounter a wooden platform which leads to a flight of stairs. Proceed down the stairs and you will find yourself in a stunning room with sheer rock walls on all sides, exit the rock room and then continue on the path that will lead you down the bluff. If you have time for a picnic lunch, stop at inspiration point to enjoy the view and to gain strength for the remainder of the trip. Many days you will be able to see graceful hawks floating up and down on the thermal breezes just off the brow. Continue north along the brow and enjoy the magnificent view of the Chattanooga valley. Depending on the season, you will see native wildflowers or breathtaking foliage. You will also cross over wooden bridges that traverse mountain streams and after recent rains, even cascading waterfalls. As you near the north end of the property, you will climb a steep hill through the woods and along a sheer rock wall to the 18th tee. This is a difficult climb and not for small children or those faint of heart. You may then continue along the Upper bluff trail or back to the golf shop.

We are in the process of identifying all of our trails with a detailed marking system. For now, please stop at the golf shop for complete directions. We look forward to everyone getting out on these trails and enjoying the beauty of Canyon Ridge.

Canyon Ridge Golf Course Update
As spring arrives and all of the beautiful native plants begin to bloom, I am very excited to be your Golf Course Superintendent at Canyon Ridge. The course seems to provide more and more spectacular views every time I take a trip around. Anyone whose passion is to maintain a golf course should envy my opportunity here.

Spring aerification is complete and greens, provided good growing conditions, will be back to their normal quality soon. Many projects are scheduled to be completed during the upcoming growing season. Hiking trails are being routed to allow the same vistas as those on the course. Other improvements will provide optimal playing conditions as well as beautify the course. I would like to commend the maintenance staff for all of their hard work and dedication during the past winter months.

I look forward to meeting all of you and hearing your course comments and concerns. Please remember to fill divots, repair ball marks and enjoy your round.

See you on the course;

Ben Waide, Golf Course Superintendent

The Sales Season is Upon Us!
Spring is here and we are excited about another selling season at Canyon Ridge. Warmer weather has already brought us a number of eager prospects! The Lookout Mountain Private Residence Club is proving to be a successful venture right out of the gate. We have taken seven reservations already and are looking forward to a great 2008!

We also added new members to the sales team this winter. Jerry Smith comes to us as a seasoned veteran in the golf business having worked as a golf professional at several private clubs. Jerry is excited about making the transition to property sales and we are thrilled to have him as part of the team. Resa Gann is no stranger to Canyon Ridge having lived on Lookout Mountain for 3 years now. Formerly, Resa was a licensed real estate agent in the Rome, GA area for 3 years. She brings a unique level of real estate experience to the team and we are happy to have her on board.

We look forward to seeing all of you as you visit this spring and summer!
